    Microsft account compromised ?

    Hi,

I recently started to receive notices on windows about infos that needed to be fixed on my Microsoft account. Didn't pay much attention to it at first, but noticed a similar message today when I tried to use 'calendar'. At the top, it said that my [internet provider] account settings are out of date. When I clicked the button 'Fix account', a pop-up window appeared, asking me to enter my password. However, I noticed that the email listed above...isn't mine. Same with the 'Email code to...' at the bottom. I don't recognize any of those two.

So I went into my windows settings to investigate it further. Everything looked good in the account page at first, until I clicked on the 'verify your identity' button, where the same window poped-up, again with the same unknown email address.

I looked around the internet, so find some answers, and found someone who suggested to look at 'shared experiences' under 'system'. Turned everything off...but I also had a notification at the top of the page saying that 'some of your accounts require attention'. Again, when I click on the 'Fix now' button, I'm presented with the same pop-up window, with the same unknown email address. It doesn't seem like there's any way to change it from that window.

When I tried to sign-in to the Microsoft web page...well, I just couldn't. It kept telling me that my email address wasn't recognized. But when I signed-up to create a new account, it told me that there was already an account registered under my email address. Then, when I finally logged-in to the site, I was presented with another pop-up I have no idea how to access it again telling me that this account was linked to two user I guess...including the unknown address seen previously.

So I guess my questions are...

a How worried should I be about all this ?

b How can I delete that unknown address and make sure only mine is used instead ?

c Where can I see the 'linked profile' ? on the microsoft account page, so that I can keep on monitoring the activity ?

Now, Windows is telling me that an update is ready to be installed...and I'm kind worried I won't be able to log-in to my computer if I restart the computer and apply the update.

Sidenote: This may not have anything to do with it, but I also experienced a loggin issue on PS4 network last night, where I had to reset my password twice. I initially thought my internet connection was acting up after a short electric blackout, but I'm not sure anymore.

Any help on the matter would be highly appreciated.

    Thank.

    J.

    :)
