Windows 10: windows 10 start up

During start up my computer shows a pop up which reads "repairing and scanning hard drive C". Nothing much else happens and the pop up fades out and the computer continues with the start up process eventually leading to an appearance by the desk top. Note this pop up only appeared after the latest windows 10 update. What's the nature of this pop up and does it add to the lengthy time for boot up? I recently had a respectable tech reconfigure my computer to decrease the boot up time from every bit of five minutes to around two minutes which included opening up a program google. Try as he may, he could not get rid of it or determine if it has any negative effects on the start up issue. Comments or offers? Thank you.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
