  1. Windows Security Took Control of My Computer. How do I get my computer back?

I have been using Webroot Secure Anywhere for years now without any issues. Webroot doesn't slow down my computer and I had no intention of switching to Windows Security. About 3 weeks to a month ago, I noticed my Webroot icon missing; and upon further investigation, I discovered that Windows Security has conducted a "coupe d'etat" on my laptop, installed itself as my security provider, all without my knowledge. With this new Windows Security, my computer has become deadly slow. When I start my computer in the morning, it takes forever to boot up; and when it finally boots up, that's when it had to install updates.... I didn't have any of these issues until Windows Security forcibly took over and turned my world upside down.

I am a school teacher using my laptop everyday for my online classes, due to covid-19. When I had webroot, I never experienced connection, lagging, distorted images and audio. Since Windows Security took over, that's what I have to deal with everyday. Some mornings, the interference is so bad I couldn't hold my classes; it's like someone juts siezes my mouse and keyboard and I couldn't do anything until the person finishes whatever he/she is doing, which sometimes could take 5, 10, even 15 minutes! I have set up the update schedule on my computer not to include the times that I'm teaching; yet, Windows Security has to update every morning as soon as I start my online conference to start teaching.

I tried to re-install my Web Root which I recently renewed for 2 more years and have over 21 months of protection left; but Windows Security is preventing the installation of webroot. I tried to select a Security provider of my choice from Settings, Windows wouldn't let me.

I don't want Windows Security; it's been a nightmare for me and making my work very unpleasant. If anyone knows how I can get my laptop back to using my webroot and getting rid of windows security, I'll appreciate it a great deal. Thanks.

    :)

Xbox Controllers aren't working on Windows 10 Computer

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are unable to use Xbox controller on your computer. We would like to know were you able to connect the Xbox controller to the computer earlier.

I would suggest you to try using a different port to connect the controller and see if that works.

However, as you have mentioned that when you try to update the driver through Device Manager, you get the message that “Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install them”, we can try installing alternate
    drivers.

    Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + X, and select
      Device Manager.
    2. Right click on the Xbox controller driver and select
      Update Driver.
    3. Select Browse my computer for Driver Software.
    4. In the next screen, select Let me pick from a list of available drivers.
    5. Check the box Show Compatible Hardware and select the driver.
    6. Click on Yes if you get any prompt.

However, I would also suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the article
Error: “USB Device not recognized” when you try to access
    a USB external hard drive.
except Method 1 and 2 and check if that helps in resolving the issue.

Let us know how it goes.
