Windows 10 laptop thinks headphones are microphone

Yesterday when I plugged in my headphones into the 3.5mm jack and the menu popped up asking what they were I accidentally clicked microphone and now every time I plug in my headphones my laptop thinks that they are a microphone and doesn't play sound through
them and continues to play sound through the speakers instead which is very inconvenient.

I've trawled through the Windows 10 settings but I can't get the menu to appear again so I that I can change it back and I'm not sure what else to do.

    Thanks.

Headphone with built in microphone uses as Microphone, not Headphone

Okay, so I have an Asus laptop with Windows 10. I am using an Ultimate Ears Headphone with built in microphone. The problem is that i want to use the headphone part, but all the the laptop registers is the microphone.

My laptop won't use the microphone in my Apple headphones.

I have a pair of Apple Earbuds (headphones with a microphone and a 3.5mm jack) and an MSI GT75 Titan. When I plug the headphones into the "headphone" jack, I can hear sound through them instead of the onboard speakers, but when I plug them into the microphone
jack, my laptop still uses the onboard mic instead of the one in the headphones. They seem to work on my iMac, though. I am using a Realtek audio driver, but I can't find it on Realtek's website and on my computer, it just says "Realtek (R) Audio", not "Realtek
HD Audio" or something like that. Also, no matter where I plug the headphones into my laptop, it doesn't show them in the list of devices - even when I plug them into the 'headphone" jack where the headphones part works properly. Can someone please help?
