The file explorer search bar is missing from every folder. I have tried removing all updates but that did not fix it on my asus tuf laptop. I previously had this problem on my msi laptop and the fix was to remove the feature update. However, removing the feature update is not fixing the problem on my asus tuf laptop. I have even tried installing all of the windows updates which also did not fix my problem. Does anyone know what else I can try?

  3. Missing Folder

    Hello Bernie,

Let's sort out your issue with the missing folder. We can check or hidden files and folders. Sometimes, files and folders might appear missing, but they are actually hidden. To show hidden files and folders, do the following:

    • Type File Explorer in the Search field in the task bar. Choose
      File Explorer Options
      from the list.
    • When File Explorer Options window opens, go to View
tab. Locate Hidden files and folders option and select Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
    • Click Apply and OK to save changes.

After you’ve changed this option, try searching for the missing files and folders on your computer. In most cases, the files should be in the same folder where you left them.

Get back to us for any updates.

file explorer search bar is missing in every folder

Cannot find Desktop Icon in File Explorer

Now that is interesting. If I do what you suggest, File Explorer Address bar changes to C:\Users\username\documents and the missing ICONS are there. But there is still not a "Desktop" folder.

Is this a step in the right direction?
