Windows 10: Generic Key Activated My Device

Hi, I recently purchased a windows key off of eBay - soon learned that what I had purchased was most likely a VLSC key or an MSDN key but I had already activated it. So I ended up uninstalling it from my device by using the command "slmgr /upk". I woke up the next morning though to find that my key was activated again. So I went in search of a generic windows key and changed my key to that - to my surprise it ended up keeping my windows 10 activated though? So, I went into command prompt and did the "slmgr /upk [activation ID]" to fully uninstall the key. I checked to make sure windows 10 wasn't activated, and then I went back into command prompt and did "slmgr /ipk [generic key]" and it still activated windows for me.


I've checked to make sure that the key that is activated is the generic key, and it is. So from what I can tell I'm not using the key I purchased from ebay, but actually, the generic key - and everything is activated still.


I didn't think that the generic key would actually activate windows for me, I only thought to use it as a way to replace the key I had used from ebay. Is this supposed to happen? Or should I still be concerned that my PC is still somehow connected to the other key I had used from ebay.

Follow either of these steps to fix the issue with the Active window hiding behind.

Method 1:
I suggest you to disable window by hovering over it with the mouse and check if it helps. To do so I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if it helps:

1. Press Windows key + X key and click on Control Panel.
2. Select or click Ease of Access.
3. Click or tap onEase of Access Centre.
4. Click on Make the Mouse Easier to Use was uncheck Activate Window by hovering over it with the mouse.
5. Check if issue is resolved.

Method 2:
I would suggest you to completely uninstall the touchpad driver and reinstall it. Kindly follow the below given steps.

1. Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
2. In the list of devices, you should see the touchpad drivers.
3. Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
4. In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
5. In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.

'Generic PnP monitor' issue

I would suggest you follow steps to update the monitor driver:

Press Windows + X keys

Choose Device manager

Click on Monitors

Right click on ‘Generic PnP monitor’ and click on update driver

Tap on Browse my computer for driver software

Tap on Let me pick from a list of available drivers

Choose ‘Generic PnP monitor’ and tap on Next

When you are done please restart the computer.
