  1. Windows thinks same size monitors are different?

So I just got a 1440p monitor to compliment the 4k monitor I got when I built my PC. They both are 27” but obviously are different resolutions. When I go to arrange my screens, the 1440p monitor shows as smaller than the 4k monitor, despite them being the same size.

Any idea how I get them to show as the same size? It’s a relatively small issue but it’s definitely driving me insane.

    Thanks in advance

Multi-monitor set up with different sizes and resolutions?

    Hi,

Running W10 1709 64-bit, and a multi-monitor setup as pictured in screenshot from display manager:

    2x27" 2560x1440 (Monitors "3" and "4")

    1x22" 1680x1050 (Monitor "2")

    and built-in laptop display:

    15.6" 1920x1080 (Monitor "1")

My problem is that my monitor manager is aware of the 4 monitors and their resolution, but not of the sizes. That is - in reality, monitor "2" is bigger than monitor "1" and the scaling between monitors is off. Dragging a window from one monitor to another
doesn't work very well as the placement is very different from what Windows thinks.

Scaling monitors to other than 100% doesn't solve my problem - Windows is still not aware of the difference in sizes. Any input is welcome.

    Thanks,

Multi-monitor set up with different sizes and resolutions?

    Hi Nikhar,

Thanks, I am clearly aware of that the monitor manager sizes monitors according to resolution. What I need is an option
not to do so. When moving the cursor through different monitors, or sizing a window over several monitors, it doesn't make sense.

    Does such an option exist?

    Thanks,

    Henrik.

Windows thinks same size monitors are different?

    Different Backgrounds on each monitor

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand that you are unable to set different wallpapers on each monitors.

We would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below and see if that helps.

    Method 1: Identify Displays.

Try using the Identify option to identify the displays and then check if you can set different background. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + I, to open
      Settings
      .
    2. Click on System, and select
      Display
      on the left pane.
    3. Now, under Rearrange your displays, click on
      Identify to identify the displays.

    Refer screenshot below:

Once the displays are identified as Monitor 1 and Monitor 2, try setting the background.

    Method 2: Duplicating Displays

One other thing we can try is to set the displays to Duplicate first and then Extend them.

To Duplicate the Displays, press Windows key + P, and select
Duplicate. Follow the same steps and select Extend.

After Extending the displays, check if we get the option to set different backgrounds.

    Method 3: Reinstall Display Drivers.

If Method 1 and 2 didn’t help, we can try uninstalling and reinstalling the Display Drivers. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + X, and select
      Device Manager.
    2. Expand Display adapters.
    3. Now, right click on the Display
      device
      and select Uninstall Device.
    4. Once the device is uninstalled, click on Actions and select
      Scan for hardware changes.
    5. Restart the computer.

    Let us know the results.
