  1. Does Autocorrect actually do anything in Windows 10 and how do I make it work?

Coming from Mac OS I am curious ()and irritated) about the Win 10 autocorrect function (Win 10 2004). I simply can't get it to work even in the basic apps like MS Word (putting aside more specialized text editors I use). Of course, I want it to work everywhere, in all apps.

Can anyone share their experience on how to make autocorrect misspeled words actually WORK on this machine without me having to feed it word by word first? I have all the functions turned on n Windows options and in Word options, but as I type misspeled words, it doesn't want to replace them automatically, only highlights them. In ideal situation I'd assume there's a dicttionary of typical misspellings for each language built into Windows. Am I wrong?

I have to say I'm a pretty lousy typist and I don't want to spend precious minutes becoming a better one. I like my wodrs to be corrected into words automatically!

    Thanks for your help

  2. Autocorrect in Win10... basically non-existent(?)

In this case, we suggest following the steps below to work around the issue:

    • On the Cortana search box, type Typing Settings and press
      Enter.
    • Turn off Autocorrect misspelled words and Highlight misspelled words.
    • Restart your PC.
    • Do step 1 and 2 but this time turn on Autocorrect misspelled words
      and Highlight misspelled words.
    • Restart your PC.
    • Check if the issue still exist.

    Autocorrect in Win10... basically non-existent(?)

    Hi,

Notepad is a simple text-editing program that allows minimal formatting and limited to simple text entry. Meanwhile, the autocorrect in Windows 10 can be enabled or disabled by following the steps below:

    • Type Devices in Cortana search and press Enter.
    • Click Typing beside the keyboard icon.

Each program has their own autocorrect features, from Windows built-in applications, web browsers, to installed applications. We suggest that you contact the application support to know more about their features.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.
