Windows 10: Using my local account login information to log into a Microsoft account

I have multiple windows 10 computers that were set up many years ago. When I originally set them up I used a local account instead of a Microsoft account. Somehow over time that account got linked to my Microsoft account and gives me the advantages of using additional features with the account linked to a Microsoft account. But I can still login using my local account credentials. I just purchased a brand-new computer which came preloaded with Windows 10. It forced me to first log on to my Microsoft account. Later I changed to log on to a local account instead of a Microsoft account under the settings accounts section. Unfortunately, I am no longer linked to my Microsoft account and lose some of the features. If I change back to logging in with my Microsoft account I have to use my Microsoft account credentials in order to login. This means my full email address and Microsoft password. I want to be able to use my local account credentials but still have my computer linked to my Microsoft account. I have been working for days to try to figure out how to do that but nothing seems to work. Either I can login using my local account credentials or I have to login using my Microsoft account credentials. How to I change this so it is similar to my other computers?

Yea, I would create a local account and just use your school account to login to Outlook and Onedrive.

I am not sure if you want to switch to a local account instead of your Microsoft account, or if you want to keep your Microsoft account but login automatically instead of having to type the password.
