Windows 10: Why is media player still missing codecs?

Is it really that hard to update the player? You're constantly sending out updates. There are community supported media players that can play all the codecs. Is this just another of Microsoft's "If you don't play the way I want, I'm taking my ball and going home"?

Missing Track Titles in Windows 10 Media Player

Method 1: Troubleshoot Windows Media Player Settings.

To run Windows Media Player Settings Troubleshooter please follow the steps below:

  Press Windows + X key.
  
• 
  From the jump menu select Control Panel.
  
• 
  On the Top right click on view by and select
  large icons.
  
• 
  Go to troubleshooting.
  
• 
  On the Left panel click View all items.
  
• 
  Select Windows Media Player Settings and follow the on screen instructions.
  

Method 2:

windows media player - codec error

The video is an AVHDC in a MTS format and Windows Media Player is giving an error that the codecs are not available. I have followed the help steps until it says to click the box in tools>options>player. It says to click the box for however, my windows media
player does not have that box available to click.

I don't want to have to download the codecs myself. Has anyone else resolved this problem in another way?
