Windows 10: Resetting Windows 10

Finally this useless operating system has given me the final nudge to reset it.

It will not recognise external hard drive docks.

Now I am attempting to reset it.

I want to keep my data on the disk as I cannot back it up, but it keeps asking for a password when I go in through the recovery screen.

I have entered the outlook password for the account given.

But it keeps saying incorrect password.

I have reset the password,

But it keeps saying incorrect password, even when I have reset it on the machine I am attempting to reset.


I do not have any recovery media as I went through a packet of dvd r discs as it kept crashing. After 10 failed attempts I gave up on a recovery disk...

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
