    Can you use a WinSxS Folder from a different version?


    I can't update my computer anymore. I tried running the Windows update client, but it just keeps loading and doesn't show anything. When I click on update history, the entire update client freezes and I have to reopen it to regain functionality. Something small I want to note is that the update searcher loop still plays, but I cannot interact with any of the settings.
    I think this may be due to the fact that my SoftwareDistribution folder is missing. I went through this page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system but realized I was missing something:
    "Important: When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions. However, if your Windows Update client is already broken, use a running Windows installation as the repair source, or use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or from a removable media, such as the Windows DVD, as the source of the files." It was the WinSxS folder. I went over to one of my other computers, copied the WinSxS folder, and now am stuck at this final step.

    Is it ok to use the WinSxS of a different Windows10 version and build?

    My version: 1909

    My build: 18363.900

    Other Computer Edition: Windows 10 Pro
    Version: 2004
    Build: 19041.630

    winsxs in vista

    the Vsp1cln.exe command is not going delete all of the winsxs folder, just the SP1 installtion folder(s)
