Windows 10: Windows keeps deleting XPS Document Writer

I need this printer for a single app. Back when Windows Update broke HP printers and printing in general -- I manually re-installed the XPS document writer (albeit on a different port named XPS) but it worked.

I add it back, windows deletes it. I add it back, windows deletes it.

How can I keep Microsoft's grubby paws off my devices?

I got all through this until: Look for "Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4" or of similar fare, XPS Class Driver

Microsoft XPS Document Writer is not in the list! Dead in the water..
