Windows 10: USB + ps/2 ports not working at login screen after update.

Hello,

Yesterday I updated to the latest build, after updating my USB ports are no longer working at the login screen, as such, I cannot log in to fix my USB Drivers.

The ports are physically fine, I have tried two keyboards, in both USB ports and via a PS/2 port, nothing works at the login screen.

The equipment is fine and works perfectly on BIOs and System Repair (via powering off 3 times) - starting the PC system repair has not fixed the situation (again keyboard and mouse work perfectly in this situation) when I attempt to login via safe mode - same problem with USB port devices. I tried restoring before the update to 5 days ago, no joy, cannot Reset the system as I don't have a Drive with a Windows Image on it (I lost it moving house 3 weeks ago).

I don't currently have access to another PC, so cannot create a new one to instal from. PC has no disk drive either.

So, basically, am I buggered and going to have to pay for a USB drive with a clean build for Windows to fix this (losing my files is a pain, but not the worst thing that has ever happened to me)? Or does any one have a life saving idea?

PS/2 To USB converter not working.

So I have these 2 throttle quadrants for flight games etc, and my ps/2 ports on my computer are only for keyboards and mice, so when I plug it in to one of the ports it overrides the keyboard/mouse and then windows freaks out and shouts at me to take it
out quickly. I've been looking for a PS/2 to usb converter for so long and have only found things that don't work and are for ONLY keyboard and mouse. I bought a couple of these PS/2 converters and nothings works. Any help is MUCH appreciated.

 

W10 USB devices not working, stuck on login screen after start from zero

Update: I've now managed to get into w10, past the login screen, with the keyboard plugged into the ps/2 port.

This is just weird. No other way to describe it. A few minutes ago the ps/2 didn't work but now it does. I'm not sure about the USB ports though, but i'm not gonna risk it and i'll see what i can do now.

I'm wondering if ps/2 ports on today's motherboards (p77, 990fx) are controlled via the chipset, or by some external controller that is wired via pci-e/pci? I'm not sure if I got it right, but ps/2 ports offer lower latency, while usb offers higher bandwidth. Is that correct?
