Windows 10: HP All-In-One Webcam On/Off Error - any ideas?

Model: HP Pavillion All-in-One 24-xa1xxx

Windows 10


My webcam is built in and slides up and down behind the screen - down is off, up is on.


The trouble is it has switched for some reason so down is on and up is off.


So Windows doesn't think there is a problem, but I can only get a shot of the back of my screen which is useless.


Have tried:

- deactivating / activating webcam

- reinstalling drivers

- reinstalling device


And following troubleshooter with some other recommendations - everything results in the same - the webcam is backwards so down is on and up is off.


Has anyone had the same issue?


Tearing my hair out with how frustrating this is!

The HP Webcam on my Pavilion g6 laptop is not working and NOT listed in the device manager since Windows 10 was loaded.
