Windows 10: System Icons Disappearing Weirdly

I recently did an update. Now on the bottom right system icon tray I have discovered that when rebooting I find that atleast one icon is missing. WiFi, Battery, sound. I try to turn them off and back on. But it doesn't work all the time.

After some fiddling around I realised there is actually a gap between the system icons and the clock. When comparing this to my desktop there isn't that gap. It seems that there is where the icons that are missing are supposed to be. I can show and example of the behaviour. But to explain it

On the far right of the system icon tray (just left of the clock) there is a gap which is exactly the same size of the border of the other system icons. When trying to remove the missing icon. The other icons will move down, thus the next right most icon becomes invisible too. Adding the original missing icon back causes the other icon that had just gone missing to come back. (The originally missing icon doesn't return back with it.)

This is really bizarre to me as trying sfc /scannow doesn't come up with any results. Right clicking on the invisible spot just brings up the taskbar context menu as if I'm right clicking anywhere else.This is understandably bothering as when the volume or especially battery icon goes, the system becomes awkward to use, obviously I have function hotkey controls for volume, however changing volume drivers is tedious to go through settings. Battery especially. I have to use some stupid oem program to view my batter percentage.Please let me know of any suggestions, I would highly appreciate it.

System Icons on taskbar

Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

Tray icon disappears

I've been experiencing since the installation of Windows XP SP2 on multiple machines with the ATITool Tray Icon disappearing upon load at system startup. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. Enabling or Disabling the "Hide Inactive (tray) Icons" WinXP menu option doesn't have any effect. The only way to open ATITool after it has loaded is to go through the start menu to open it again. I have "minimize on close" selected in ATITool. When closing ATITool, you see it make the motions of minimizing to the tray area but no icon is displayed. Any ideas?

Missing icons after a recent Windows update can be due to the changes made in your PC Settings while updating.
Before we proceed with any troubleshooting steps, we suggest that you make sure that
Show Desktop icons is enabled. Here's how:

• Right-click on the empty area on your desktop.
• Choose View and you should see Show Desktop icons option.
• Try checking and unchecking Show Desktop icons option a few times but remember to leave this option checked.

Should the issue persists, you can turn off tablet mode. Windows 10 is designed to work with touchscreen devices and touchscreen monitors and it comes with tablet mode that optimizes Windows 10 for touchscreen devices. apparently using tablet mode can sometimes
cause your icons to disappear so let’s see how we can turn off tablet mode. Follow the steps below to turn off tablet mode:

• Open Settings > System and choose Tablet mode from the left.
• Locate the Make Windows more touch-friendly when using your device as a tablet and set it to off.
  
• Your desktop icons should now appear. If that doesn’t work, try turning on and off Tablet mode a few times.
