No speakers or headphones are plugged in.

I've been having this problem for about a week now haven't found a solution yet.

    Laptop specs: ASUS x541u

first i had this error message "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED, the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it" although i plugged nothing to my laptop that s new and even if i unplug all the devices my mouse ect... i still get the error message, it just showed up one day suddenly, i don't remember when exactly but remember that i didn't add/plug any new device to my laptop, i didn't know what to do so i just left it that way since all devices on my laptop worked fine i just muted the notifications from settings>devices>USB>and uncheck "notify me if there is a issues connecting the USB devices" so that fixed the message that pops up and i just muted the notification sound from the volume mixer, so far i haven't spoke yet about the problem that i want to fix i would love to fix this one too but it doesn't affect my work with my laptop much since i found a way to bypass it.

few days later i get this red X in my sound and volume icon in the taskbar saying "No speakers or headphones are plugged in.",

when i click on the sound icon with left click i get this message saying you need a new app to open this ms-contact support-link and look for a app on windows store but it says no app found for ms-cont... , so i also tried the troubleshooter but from settings>update and security>troubleshoot>additional troubleshooters>playing audio>run and it says the audio peripheral doesn't appear to be plugged in. check the connection.

i also tried to update the audio driver from device manager but it didn't work too.

i deleted the audio driver and restarted my laptop and guess what? it didn't work too lol d:

i downloaded some apps to update driver automatically like driver booster 8 and driver easy didn't work too.

now i also get an icon in the task bar beside the usb device not recognized saying safely remove the hardware and eject media but when i click on it i just get open device and printers and i found nothing there.

i also countered a problem with device manager, it keeps kind of refreshing every 5 sec when i open it and when i extend the universal serial bus controllers i don't find the usb error there but when i choose show hidden devices i find a unknow usb device device descriptor request failed and when i uninstall it it just comes back in the next 5sec when the device manager refreshes, and i don't have the option to disable that driver.

    HELP!

    please excuse my English.

    :)

Speakers playing when headphones are plugged in

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.

    • Are you seeing an error code when trying to plug in speakers or headphone? - Nope No speakers or headphones are plugged in. :(
    • Have you made any changes or update to your device before the issue occurred? - Nope No speakers or headphones are plugged in. :( The problem appeared suddenly.
    • Have you tried using a different speakers or headphone and check if the same issue will persist? - Yes, same problem

No speakers or headphones are plugged in Windows 10

Hi, so I ran the find any problem devices and nothing seemed to pop up. When running the audio trouble shooting the problem found was "low audio device volume" and when I hover over audio button with the red cross it says "no speakers or headphones are plugged in" when mine are and I got the little pop up window saying that a device had been plugged in. It's not allowing me to turn up the volume either. If I try to play sound rather than it coming out of my pc's speakers or my headphone nothing comes out
