Both headset and speaker are detected as speaker in the system and I'm unable to switch... yYIJATAgfY0IB3Y0yTkQ20iOxVIrulo4Sx9rf4ezjTc.jpg

I have a Logitech speaker plugged in into the 3.5mm jack on the back of motherboard (Biostar H410MH), and another headset (MH751) connected to the front 3.5mm jack. Prior to my motherboard upgrade, my pc will detect them as an individual speakers and headset when both the speakers and headset are connected and I can select which one to use from the sound setting. On my new system both are detected as speaker.

    The current scenario are:

    1. Only speaker connected, audio plays through speaker, system detect is as speaker.
    2. Only headset connected, audio plays through headset, system detect is as speaker.
    3. Both speaker & headset connected, audio plays through headset, which the system detects it as speaker. There is no way for me to switch to my speaker while the headset is still connected. I don't like the idea of plug and unplug my headset every time I want to use it.

I have found out that many users were having this similar problem, and it usually have something to do with Realtek High Definition Audio driver.

What I have tried/checked so far:

    1. Reinstall both the latest version driver and older version driver.
    2. Disable Realtek High Definition Audio on device manager and install High Definition Audio device driver.
    3. Tested my speaker and headset on other system and they are detected separately as speaker and headset.
    4. Using a different headset, the same result.
    5. No loose connection on 3.5mm jacks and motherboard.

What it shows for all 3 scenarios mentioned above.

Both front and rear 3.5mm jacks under the same speakers properties

How I want it to be.

Realtek HD Audio Manager shows both rear and front 3.5mm jack connected.

  2. Headset Detected as Speakers.

Both headset and speaker are detected as speaker in the system and I'm unable to switch... 1abdc272-2064-4836-b996-2b9ff067c5f3.png
    I
have an edifier speaker working... I tried to add up a headset using the front jack... My speaker stopped working and my headphones are detected as speakers. I even tried to change it from the audio manager, to confirm it is selected as headphones not as speakers.
But it stills appear in the playback devices as speakers... I even tried to transfer my headset jack to rear from front and removed my speakers. The result is still the same, I can only use either my speakers or headset because they are overlapping each other
as both speakers. Even though my Asus monitor HDMI speaker is detected properly. I am using windows 10 and ROG MOBO. I know this is an old issue but still an issue for me. Need help.

    Plugged into:

LINE OUT GREEN (REAR) and HEADPHONE JACK (Front)

  3. Problem switching from headset to speaker

    Sandyt,

    Thanks for the response.

I downloaded the cab file, expanded it, and tried to update the driver. It said that I already had the best drivers for the device.

However, I also noticed the option to pick a driver from the already certified list. So just for kicks, I went back to the old(er) generic driver, installed that and rebooted the laptop.

Now the 2 devices work seamlessly when I switch from one to the other.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Regards,
    Anil

    Sandyt,

I think I spoke too soon.

After leaving the headset with the current drivers and switching the laptop speaker/microphone to the generic drivers, everything worked for some time. I could attach/detach the headset and the audio would switch from one device to another.

However, after sometime this stopped working. Once I attach the headphone, I can hear the audio perfectly. But disconnecting it does not switch the sound back to the speaker.

Need a New Headset and Speakers.

It seems that I would stay with logitech for headsets but I would like some suggestions for a 2.1 speaker setup.
