Windows 10: User shows last person logged in even after logging off, shutting down, or restarting

Hello,

I have been managing laptops on both Intune and AD and it seems whenever any user logs off, restarts, or shuts down, when they log back on they see themselves as the last person to log on. Is there a way to disable this on both fronts? Thank you in advance

There can be many possible reasons why you're experiencing this issue. It can be due to system file corruption that is why your computer gets confused with the user profiles. To narrow down the possible causes and for us to provide the troubleshooting steps
needed, we would like to gather more information:

• What is the edition and version of your Windows 10? You can check this by following these steps: Press
  Windows key + I, Click System, and then
  About.
• Can you send us a screenshot of the warning message?
• Did you make any recent changes on your computer prior to this issue?
• When logged in, can you see the settings or personalization made by other users?

Other user logged in...

Windows constantly reminds me, that there is at least one other user logged in on my PC whenever I want to remove a program, initiate shut down, restart or anything that would/could interfere with another users activity. It does this after seveal shut
downs and restarts and still to my knowledge I am the only user logged in, but windows does not agree with me..

Any thoughts?

 

Windows 10 - Shutdown, but user stays logged in

When I shutdown Windows 10, (latest version, fully patched up to date 25-Oct-2017), I find that it shuts down without issue. However, when the PC is restarted, the last logged in user (who initiated the shut down) is still logged in.

I noticed this when I shutdown as User 1, then restarted the PC and logged in as User 2. When viewing the 'profiles' button at the top of the Start Menu, (which shows your user picture), it showed me that User 1 was still logged in. Furthermore, when I went
to shut the computer down as User 2, it warned me that other users were logged in to this computer. I had to log out as User 2 and login as User 1 to shut down the computer.

The only way around this is to log out and then shut the PC down from the main login screen. All my users have complex passwords assigned and in all other aspects Windows 10 appears to be working correctly.

I assume this is a feature, but is there a switch or a registry hack that allows the shut down process to log off the current user, like Windows 7 used to?

Please can someone advise?
