Windows 10: Strange issue with internet speed after boots

Hey guys,

So, I'm not really sure what's causing this issue. I have a 300mbp/s download and approximately 50mbp/s upload connection, but when I first boot up my machine, I'm getting somewhere around half, or less, of what I usually would. The only way I can rectify this is by changing a setting on the Ethernet driver, then changing it back. The setting I change doesn't, so far as I can tell, make any difference. It's almost as if I have to reset the driver for it to kick in properly. Example:

So, in the example above, I ran the initial speed test, then I changed Advanced EEE to Enabled, applied it, and then to disabled and applied it, then ran the second speed test.

The slowdown is consistent across boots, be it a restart or a full shutdown and power up. It's also carried across a fresh install of Windows.

Does anyone know what might be causing it? Whilst I'm happy to keep doing what I've been doing to get the full speed, it can get somewhat tedious.

Slow Internet Download Speed from Browser/s but not from App.

• Do you have add-ons installed on the browser?
  

Let us try these steps to check if that helps.

Step 1: Suggest you to run the apps troubleshooter on the PC to
fix problems with the Edge browser.

You may also want to clear the temporary files on the PC to check if that helps.

1. Press Windows key + R to get the run window.
   
2. Type %temp% and hit enter.
   
3. Select all the files in that temp folder and delete them.
   

Once this is done, restart the computer and open Edge browser to test the internet speed.

Step: 2: Further, you may also put the PC in a
clean boot state to check if that helps. A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your PC activity.

Note: Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality while in a clean boot environment, however, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.

Slow Internet speed on only one computer.

Hi Cody,

Slow internet speed on one of your computer could be due to the following:

• Outdated network adapter driver
• Different Wi-Fi chipset
• Computer processing speed

Make sure that the network driver of your computer(s) are always updated.

We also suggest you to contact your internet service provider for them to check your internet connection speed and give you more information.
