I can generally tell when my computer is not doing a lot of work. The fan is almost unheard. And it seems to want to go there often. When it does everything gets acutely laggy. I mean almost to a stop. The mouse cursor freezes and I have to jump hoops to wake the machine up again?

I've experienced this in bygone era's . . . and it seem to rectify, eventually. But now it's almost all the time. Like now, I hear nothing from the machine works, dead silence.

What has been done. Is this an HP issue or a Windows thing?

    Thanks so much.

    :)
