I have a Windows 10 20H2 laptop that I use on several WiFi networks getting address settings by DHCP, but I also use it on a work network without DHCP, which uses static address settings. I have tried various ways of setting it up, and it seems that I have to manually create the work network so I can define the static address settings, while using the automatic address settings in the TCP/IPv4 network item to give me settings that work when I connect to any DHCP enabled network including adding new networks on the PC.For some reason, when I try this and connect to a DHCP enabled network, I g

DHCP on a static IP Network

Hi All. I have a static IP environment setup My router is alo assigned a static ip address and that is used as the internet gateway. I also have various wifi access points set up but the one I need to use for this question is a Ubiquiti Unifi Access point.
I have one device I would like to grant access to the network via wifi. This device unfortunately only supports DHCP connections and while it does connect to the access point it cannot use the gateway for internet access. I'm guessing it's expecting the settings
from the access point but since the ap is connected to the static network with manual settings its not broadcasting them to the device. The Unifi Ap can broadcast up to 4 wireless networks and each can be set up differently. Is there a way to get the ap to
broadcast to my device using its built in dhcp server and still facilitate internet access through my static network's gateway?

Windows 10 - WiFi DHCP not assigning address

Just upgraded to Windows 10 on a HP2000 Notebook. The upgrade worked flawlessly with one exception. I performed the upgrade while wired to the network. When I switched to WiFi, the adapter showed "Limited Connectivity". Using Regedit, I looked at HKLM/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Tcpip/Parameters/Interfaces
and found that my WiFi adapter was receiving a DHCP assigned address.

In my home, I use DHCP statically assigned addresses and typically I assign the same IP to both wired and WiFi adapters on a given machine. What I didn't realize is that because the wired adapter had already been assigned the same DHCP address, the WiFi
adapter somehow couldn't re-use the address it was given by the DHCP.

After giving the Wifi adapter a different DHCP-assigned address than the wired adapter, it worked perfectly.
