Windows 10: How to switch to a new email?

When I first created an account for this computer, I used my father's email. That hasn't been an issue, but as I am much older and trying to migrate over to my stuff, I can't seem to disconnect him from the computer. I don't have the option for local accounts. I have been able to disconnect his email from the computer. Yet, his account still appears under the Microsoft account section and the remove option is not available though I have my personal email Microsoft account signed in. In the attached images, my email is Gmail while my father's is the live email.

As per the issue description you have two email id's and you want to change your secondary email to primary on your pc.



I would suggest you to switch the login account to Local user account. Then switch back to Microsoft account which you want to use. You may follow the steps provided below:



Step 1: Switch to local user account

Follow these steps to create a “Local User account”.

• Press “Windows key +W”.
• Type “users” without quotes in the search box.
• Then select “Users” from the left panel.
• You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.
• Select “Switch to a local account” option.
• Enter the required details.
• Then login to the local account and check how it works.

Step 2: Switch back to Microsoft account

Follow these steps to create a “Microsoft account”.

• Press “Windows key +W”.
• Type “users” without quotes in the search box.
• Then select “Users” from the left panel.
• Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.
• Enter the required details (Primary Email ID).
• Restart the computer and then try to login using new Primary account.

New emails link to old emails and they all show in the inbox

• How many user account you have configured in the Windows Mail app?
• What do you mean by “New emails link to old emails”?

If you have configured more than one user account in the Windows Mail app then, I would suggest you to switch the user accounts and check the emails in the inbox.

Follow the below steps to switch the user accounts in the Windows Mail app:

• Open the Mail app.
• Under the Accounts select one user account and check the
  Inbox under Folders.

If the issue still persist then, I would recommend you to delete and reconfigure the account.
