    Moving the taskbar

    Hi Kim,

You can customize your taskbar to pin your favorite apps to it, move it to where you want to display on your screen, and specify how taskbar buttons group together when you have more than one window open. To address your question, we suggest
that you follow these steps on how to move your taskbar to a different location on the screen:

    • Open Settings and choose Personalization.
    • Select Taskbar.
    • Under Taskbar location on the screen, click the drop-down menu and select
      Bottom.

Keep us posted if you need additional help.

  3. Taskbar location

    Hi Todd,

Sudden changes in the location of the taskbar can occur due to misconfiguration in Windows settings. But you don't have to worry, you can modify the location where the taskbar will be displayed. Follow these steps to change the location of your taskbar:

    • Right click on your taskbar.
    • Choose Taskbar settings.
    • Look for Taskbar location on screen. The drop-down button under it will let you choose your preferred location for the taskbar.

    Taskbar location

Microsoft redesigned Taskbar in Windows 11, and as a result some features are missing.

List of Changed or removed features/functionalities in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

    • Drag and drop: With Windows 11, Microsoft has re-written the taskbar code in a modern design language, UWP. Hence some functionalities are missing. One of the missing features is you cannot drag and drop to the Taskbar. Microsoft is already collecting Feedback on this, and you can upvote the relevant icon in the feedback Hub and add your voice. In the meantime, you can use Windows11DragAndDroptoTaskbarFix from here as a workaround.
    • Limited options in right-click menu: In the previous version of Windows, right-clicking the Taskbar showed many options, like show the desktop and Task manager. But in the initial release of Windows 11, the menu items are missing, except Taskbar Settings.

    • Taskbar Labels: Microsoft has also removed Taskbar labels in Windows 11. Currently, icon only is supported.
    • Small Icons: The small icons on the Taskbar is not available as well in the initial release
    • Move the Taskbar: Moving the Taskbar to any part of the screen and resizing it is not supported yet.
    • Date/Time on the second display: The date/time on the second display is also not supported in Windows 11. Also, on the primary display, you cannot show seconds. You can use a utility from GitHub in the meantime. See here.
    • Jump lists: You cannot open the Jump list for a specific application on the Taskbar by swiping upward.
    • Hide Certain system icons(called Taskbar overflow icons in Windows 11): in windows 11, you cannot hide Volume, Network, and Battery icons from the taskbar overflow icons.
    • Weather on the Taskbar: Windows 11 does not show weather and news on the Taskbar. The feature has been moved to Widgets that Win+W keys can invoke.
    • You cannot Pin files in the right-click menu of the File Explorer. Pinning Folder is only supported.
