Windows 10: How to get my encrypted drive from my laptop to my other laptop

Good morning,My old laptop has the bitlocker encryption but I do not have my old laptop anymore, well I do but it is at my mom's over 1500 miles away. The screen is broken so I can no longer use it as I tried to get my mom to turn it on. I have the recovery key and I have the device object IdMy gaming laptop new did not come with the bit locker encryption setup but I have enabled it in the services with no tpm to be able to get the data back. I get stuck past this point, I'm not 100% tech savy but I can follow directions pretty well if I could get some help that would be appreciated!

AFAIK, most encryptions like this change the boot sector of the hard drive to include their software encryption. So when the drive is booted, it won't boot without first entering a username and password to unlock the drive.

As I mentioned above, it asks your for a username and password, which will unlock the drive before booting Windows.

Anything is possible, but it certainly makes it a hell of a lot harder, and your normal user would not be able to do it. Since the entire drive is encrypted, even if they put it in another computer, the data would not be accesable unless they knew the encryption key.

You should only consider getting this if you have sensitive information on your laptop. Encrypting the drive will lower performance, and can be a hassle over time to be entering passwords more and more. If you do go through with this, make sure to back up the encryption key (unless it is just a password, then nevermind)

 

Partial Encryption of Laptop

Hi all.

I use to use TrueCrypt so that I could have only part of my laptop encrypted, and now TrueCrypt is no more *Sad.
Can somebody suggest a replacement for TrueCrypt: I want to have an encrypted volume/part of my laptop on my laptop. I want the rest of the laptop not to be encrypted.

Any help really appreciated!
