  3. How do I fix "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast" turning off after I've turned it on in Game Bar settings?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The issue where the "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast" option turns off by itself in the Windows Game Bar settings can be due to several reasons, including software conflicts, incorrect configuration, or even system limitations. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and attempt to resolve this issue:

    1. Check System Requirements:
      • First, ensure your PC meets the hardware requirements for game recording. For example, the Xbox Game Bar requires a compatible graphics card and adequate system resources.
    2. Update Graphics Drivers:
      • Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause issues with game recording. Update your graphics card drivers through the Device Manager, or download the latest versions from the manufacturer's website.
    3. Check Xbox Game Bar Settings:
      • Go to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Game Bar and make sure it's enabled. Also, go to Settings > Gaming > Captures and ensure the relevant options are turned on.
    4. Check Background Recording Settings:
      • In the Captures menu, check if the background recording is turned on. This feature needs to be enabled for certain types of game recording.
    5. Review Privacy Settings:
      • Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and ensure that Xbox Game Bar is allowed to access your microphone, which is required for recording game clips with audio.
    6. Reset Xbox Game Bar:
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Find Xbox Game Bar in the list, select it, click on Advanced options, and then click on the Reset button.
    7. Re-register Xbox Game Bar:
      • Open PowerShell as an administrator and enter the following command to re-register the Xbox Game Bar app:

    8. Check for Interference from Antivirus:
      • Temporarily disable your antivirus software and check if that allows the settings to remain enabled. Some antivirus programs can interfere with system settings.
      • Disclaimer: Temporarily turn off antivirus protection. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn it on immediately once issue fixed.
    9. Create a New User Profile:
    10. Perform a Clean Boot:
      • Perform a clean boot to rule out conflicts with other applications. This starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs.
      • Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.
    11. Repair System Files:
      • Use the System File Checker (SFC) tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run

        sfc /scannow
