Windows 10: Changed to local Windows account to stop nagging me to add a phone number. Now Windows...

I originally set up Windows 11 with a Microsoft account. After lots of registry hacks, I was able to move Documents and other folders to C:\Users\[username]\Documents and everywhere they should be instead of inside OneDrive. I also removed OneDrive from File Explorer shortcuts, turned off notifications for everything, and I was happy.Eventually a Windows update added OneDrive back to File Explorer. And Windows started nagging me with a little orange circle next to my username telling me to add a phone number to my account. The only option was to remind me later. No option to say "No. Never. Fo

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

 

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.
