How to always allow administrator permissions for a specific application

    Hi Lyon,

Windows 10 gives users the ability to customize how they run applications. We suggest that you follow the steps below on how to grant administrator permission to a specific application:

    • Click the Windows icon on your Windows 10 screen that will open the list of applications. Right click on the specific application that you wish to have an admin permission, click the
More and click Open file location.
    • A new window will open to the location of the program. Right-click on the program and click
      Properties from the pop-up menu.
    • In the Properties window, click the Shortcut tab and then click
      Advanced.
    • In the Advanced Properties window, check the box next to
      Run as administrator
      and click OK.
    • The program will now open in administrator mode when you click the shortcut from the Start menu. Repeat the steps above for other desired applications.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

  3. Windows 10 search for a specific folder name and file name

Carlos: Thanks for your reply. What you suggest is what I have been doing. I search for folders with a specific name and get a list. Then I have to search each folder for a specific file. So it's a two step search and that's what I was trying to avoid.

I assume there are applications out there that allow for an "AND" search in Windows. I'll try that approach.

    Thanks, again.

Windows 11 will not mute specific applications

    Hi Casey Roberson,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Based on the information you have provided, you are experiencing an issue with a specific application that cannot be muted by the Volume Mixer on Windows 11. You have tried a variety of solutions, including restarting the application, restarting your computer, updating the audio drivers, resetting the sound settings, and performing a system file check, but none of these methods have resolved the issue.

Is it okay if I ask a question unrelated to the system.

How long has this been happening to you? Has it always been like this?

You can try the following steps to fix the problem:

    • Safe mode
I suggest you go into Safe mode to see if the system itself has a problem. We can use this to isolate the problem as Safe Mode enables a minimal number of additional services or apps to rule out issues caused by personalized settings and third-party apps.

Visit Start your PC in safe mode in Windows (microsoft.com) to view the specific steps. Please follow these in order and report back what you discover.

    • Create a new account
Please create a new test account, and switch to the newly created account to see if specific applications is working as normal. This troubleshooting step can help isolate the problem due to an invalid profile configuration.

    • In-place install
Let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. Once you are done backing up, you can follow the steps in the following guides:

How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

Disclaimer: Let's try to do an in-place upgrade that updates your Windows files and operating system without deleting any files or applications. However, we recommend that you back up your computer in advance if it contains important data.

The above steps will help narrow down the location where the problem occurs. We look forward to hearing from you for more information. If you have any further questions, please contact us

    Best wishes
