Windows 10: How do I restore my system to see dst embroidery thumbnails?

I don't know what I did, but now I cannot see thumbnails for dst embroidery files. I can see other formats, just not this one. Did a system restore..that didn't help. All programs are working fine...I just can't see the thumbnails. They are a blank page for all dst formats. Any idea on how to fix this? I have probably a million designs that I can't see. Help!

Windows File Explorer itself doesn't support thumbnail previews for all types of files, especially some unconventional file types such as .pes embroidery files. Whether thumbnail previews can be displayed in File Explorer often depends on the application that is associated with opening that particular file type.

Therefore, you may check within the related software you use for embroidery designs to see if there are similar settings available. The settings within the embroidery software might allow you to enable thumbnail previews for .pes files, making it easier for you to browse and search through your catalog of designs directly within the software.

Also make sure to allow thumbnails to be displayed in the File Explorer settings.

1. Open File Explorer: Navigate to any folder containing .pes embroidery files.
   
2. Click on "View": At the top of the File Explorer window, click on the "View" tab.
   
3. Select "Options": On the far right side of the ribbon, you'll see a button labeled "Options". Click on it.
   
4. Open Folder Options: In the Folder Options window that appears, select the "View" tab.
   
5. Uncheck "Always show icons, never thumbnails": Scroll down the list of Advanced settings until you find "Always show icons, never thumbnails." Make sure this option is unchecked.
   
6. Apply Changes: Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.

Embroidery Thumbnail image quality

Hello, I am not super knowledgeable about this issue, but I wonder if uninstalling and reinstalling your embroidery program will fix the thumbnail issue. My reasoning is that uninstalling the program will clear any settings, and reinstalling the program will give it a fresh start and fix the embroidery thumbnail issue. This may erase your program's settings, a downside, unless there is an option to back up the settings in the program.

Dalchina, Thank you for your reply. Yes, the file association is correct. I’ve submitted a request to the software providers. I do know how to rebuild the thumbnail cache, have done so, and prevented deletion of the cache. I have indeed dis and reassociated the files. No difference. I will look into daily restore points, good idea. I have the tutorial list and links. Even though I restored successfully, the thumbnail images remain pixilated, maybe even worse than before.
