Windows SIM was unable to generate a catalog file

When I create catalog file using Windows System Image Manager (SIM), it eventually errors out that

Microsoft documentation of this doesn't quite help since I am using x64 version of SIM on Windows 10 x64 (I don't even know where to get x86 version).

I tried the same steps on another Windows 10 x64 system and I was able to create catalog file using the same process.

My question is why exactly am I getting this error? Secondly even though it fails but it does create the catalog file in the directory. I can actually select it in Windows SIM and load it fine and also create new answer file. But is it incomplete or missing components or might have other issues?

The host PC is Windows 10 1803.

Windows SIM comes as part of Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit, here is a snapshot of installation of that.





There is no way to tell if its x64 version or x32 but I downloaded it from here. Even that doesn't say which architecture, this is the only link for Win10.

Update

I uninstalled Windows ADK and reinstalling it. I noticed it picks c:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits.... so it is the 32 bit version. How do I get 64 bit version of ADK?

 

Windows SIM can't create a catalog file from a wim

I'm currently trying to use Windows SIM to create a Windows 10 autounattend.xml file for a custom installation. I have a standard, generic, enterprise edition of Windows 10, which is my source for the wim file.
I can't get Windows SIM to create the catalog. The error I get is just "failed to complete".
I've rummaged around online and the only suggestion I can get is that SIM needs to be a 32-bit installation to generate catalogs for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows images, and a 64-bit installation of WIM can only generate catalogs for 64-bit Windows.
I'm running a 32-bit system, and I'm trying to get a catalog for a 64-bit image, so there's shouldn't be a conflict here.
Does anyone know how to get around this issue, or solve it? I can't even start creating an answer file until I manage to successfully generate a catalog for a WIM file.

Windows ADK 1903 fails to generate catalog

I'm trying to regenerate my unattended setup answer file.

In order to do this, I have to use the ADK to create a catalog from my installation media.

I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 Pro 1903 onto a virtual machine. I installed the ADK onto this machine as well.

When I attempt to generate the catalog with the WSIM application. it gives me this error:

Windows SIM was unable to generate a catalog. For troubleshooting assistance, see the topic: 'Windows System Image Manager Technical Reference' in the Windows ADK User's Guide.

Details: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ComponentStudio.ComponentPlatformImplementation,Version=10.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

Please keep in mind, I installed Windows 10 1903 TODAY, and I downloaded and installed the ADK for 1903 TODAY. So everything should be latest+greatest. I notice it's complaining about a version mismatch. So what do I do? I downloaded and installed straight
from the website TODAY.. how can the versions mismatch? How do I fix this? I really need this to work, I can't do my job without this working.
