  1. Computer is constantly freezing (I'm getting blue loading disk every 3-5 mins once I start...

    About 6 months ago, I posted this same problem. Although a Microsoft contractor, Rob, emailed me a bunch of ideas to perform to try to fix my problem, they didn't seem to work (if I can figure out how to attach Rob's answer to this email, I will do that so people can see what I tried). But, here's my problem, in detail;

    First off, when I click the "restart" option from my power icon, it literally takes my computer 20-25 minutes to restart! I restart my computer because after my computer has been on, but inactive for 15 minutes to a few hours, it can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes to finally get my computer to function. Even though I can get the screen saver to disappear by just hitting any one of my keyboard keys, when I try to click a tab on my browser (just one example), nothing happens. It could take 10 minutes to finally get my computer to start functioning! But, once it does start to work, every 30 seconds to 2-3 minutes, I get that damn blue spinning "loading circle"! Every time it seems as if my computer is finally back on track, it freezes up again and I get that blue loading circle! Restarting my computer does seem to get it to start to function properly. But, of course, it takes 20-25 minutes to go through the restart process! I shouldn't have to constantly restart my computer to get it to work properly then have to go through the restart procedure an hour or two later when I walk away from my computer for a while.

    As I can't seem to find a way to attach the email reply that I received from the independent contractor, Rob, I will list the things he suggested that I try. Here's the list;

    *I performed a "performance check".
    *I checked for updates for Windows 10 & for device drivers.
    *I ran the "program compatibility troubleshooter".
    *I checked my memory and memory usage.
    *I freed up space on my drive.
    *I disabled all unnecessary programs which automatically ran upon startup.
    *I did a virus and malware check.
    *I checked for corrupted windows system files.

    *I performed a "clean boot".

    *I downloaded the suggested programs; "Autorun", "Process Explorer", "Process Monitor", and used them.

    *I used the "Hardware & Devices troubleshooter".

    *I ran "SFC/scannow" and "DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth" and "DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth".

    *I checked all my drivers and made sure they were all up to date.

    I did all of the above and I'm still having the same problem. Unfortunately, I dumped the reply info for Rob, the independent contractor, in the trash and don't know how to get back to him.

    Also, here is my system info;

    Windows 10 Home edition- 2018

    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7500@2.93GHz 2.93GHz

    Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB

    System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor.

    If anyone can help me with this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it!

  2. computer freezes on start up

    Hi,

    I am trying to fix a computer and would appreciate any suggestions of help.

    I start the computer, it loads, gets to the windows screen, the blue segmented line goes across a couple of times then the whole thing freezes in that spot, the blue line stops moving and that's as far as it gets.

    Things I tried:
    F8 - safe mode
    - last known good configuration
    - Start Windows normally
    - (etc)
    When I tried these it just came back to the F8 screen.

    Pushing 'R' didn't do anything (I was told this could make a repair) o.0 ??

    Tried to boot up from an operating system disk by changing the boot up menu (delete) and this didn't work either. All it did was get to the windows screen and the blue line moved across a couple of times and it froze again in that spot.. exactly the same as when I try to start it.

    I am clueless now as to how to get this computer working. Any ideas?

    5 min delay on cold start between login screen and bg screen

    Ok, let the powershell command run overnight
    If the command didn't solve the problem, the try these steps in order:

    1. Disable superfetch service
      • Empty the following folder c:\Windows\Prefetch\
      • Restart the computer
      • Si ça ne marche pas, passer à l'étape 2;
    2. Disable the AppXSvc from the registry: change the "Start" key value from 3 to 4 (see the screenshot)
