Windows 10: 0x80070002 error for updates KB4512508 and KB4512941

Since a couple of weeks I am trying to install windows update KB4512508 (and today KB4512941). Each time the system restarts, the installation fails and the update is removed. The error reported in the update history is 0x80070002.


I tried to run the repair tool for windows in the settings, without identifying a issue, I ran in the power shell DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth (no issue found) and sfc /scannow (corrupted files have been successfully replaced), but still no solution.


Is there any known way to fix the problem? Should I wait for a fix by Microsoft?

Can't open Windows Sandbox Error 0x80070002


Microsoft has acknowledged this issue now:

Windows Sandbox may fail to start with error code “0x80070002”Windows Sandbox may fail to start with "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0x80070002)" on devices in which the operating system language is changed during the update process when installing Windows 10, version 1903.


Affected platforms:

• Client: Windows 10, version 1903

Next steps: We are working on a resolution and estimate a solution will be available in late June.

 

Error 0x80070002 when trying to update Windows


I have been having issues for months with Windows 10 updates failing due to Error 0x80070002 on my gaming laptop. The full message reads:

2019-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4503286) -Error 0x80070002.

I am currently on version 1803 (OS Build 17134.590) and I'm being told "You're currently running a version of windows that's nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements."

I have followed the instructions on Error Code 0x80070002 Fixed – Eassos Step-by-Step Tutorial but this hasn't resolved the problem. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Windows Sandbox seems fragile on 1903 for a bunch of reasons; mine won't start with a different error code.
