Windows 10: "0x80070003 - 0x2000D" Error When Installing Windows 10 1809 Update using Media Creation Tool

Hello,

I'm trying to install the latest version of Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool. It downloads successfully, and installing gets to 100%, but when it restarts it says "undoing changes to windows" and boots to desktop with this message:


I have tried:

• Downloading it from the Update and Security settings. Same result: downloads, installs, restarts and reverts changes. Interestingly, afterwards it says "latest update installed", even though About Windows clearly still says version 1803.
• Installing from the media creation tool
• Using CCleaner to fix registry issues
• Doing sfc /scannow in command prompt (admin)
• Following this guide

Media Creation Tool Won't Download ISO

What is the exact and complete error you get when you try to create Media creation tool?

Your USB thumb drive needs to be at least 8 GBs.

The error code 0x80070079-0xA001A means that the tool doesn't have permission for it to run. For us to assist you, we suggest that you

You might face this issue if the downloaded setup file is corrupted.

• Did you try to download the setup again?
• Did you try to upgrade through Windows Update?

First, I would suggest you to try updating through Windows Update and check if you are able to upgrade to Windows 10. If you are unable to upgrade through Windows Update, then I would suggest you to download the Windows 10 ISO again and save it locally
on the desktop and then try to run the upgrade.

I had the same problem and Microsoft support (level 2) sorted it out for me. It's caused by a driver conflict. In device manager disable your third party screen drivers Nvidia or whatever you have, same with your third party sound card drivers. You should also try a clean boot and try the upgrade again, it worked on my PC.
