  1. 0x80070057 error. Has my drive failed?

    Hello,

I got a BSOD and when I try to restart my machine I get the 0x80070057 error. Trying to repair in recovery gets the srt.trail error.

I've tried al the bootrec etc fixes I could find, I never had acces to /bootfix or was unable to activate drives, etc. Even tried partition assistant.

I am on a Thinkpad T450s. I was running windows on a m2 ssd and had a hdd for files. I transferred the OS from the HDD to SSD a while back. As such, the HDD still has partitions for the OS.

In DISKPART I think that 256 GB SSD is showing up as 115 GB disk with a 32 GB primary partition but has no volumes. Does this mean it's failed? Disk 3 is online though. Partition assistant didn't see it either.

It shows up in the Bios as bootable drive. I've attached a pic as such. I later switch to boot from USB. HDD 0 is the main storage drive and HDD2 is some weird Lenovo drive thing.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

    :)

No need to be sorry. I'm not expecting you to be sitting there as my real time support assistant 0x80070057 error. Has my drive failed? :). I do really appreciate your help though.

So, I went through the suggestions in the links I posted. The sfc /scannow had failed in normal boot mode. The recommendation was to run it in safe mode, which was my last attempt. It came back stating there were no issues, and finished fine. WFT?

Anyway, I now will go down the path of your suggestions above.

    Thanks again.

P.S. - By the way, I'm back to the 0x80070057 error. System is schizophrenic.

I ran all the cmds you listed and all were find. Indicated no problems.

Ran the Windows Update. Still Failed.

Downloaded it per your link and it installed successfully.

Interestingly, when I run Windows Update, it still shows this:

For now, I'm going to assume that once it runs an automatic check it will clear that out.
