Windows 10: 0x80070424 Error when trying to Check for updates

Hi,


Recently, I've noticed that my laptop has been turning on its fans and heating up randomly when I haven't been doing anything on it. So I decided to see if there was anything wrong. I tried to run a scan on windows defender, however, nothing happens when I click on the "scan" button. I also can't restore defaults for my firewall. I also can't check for updates; when I do, the error 0x80070424 comes up.


I went onto services, and scrolled down and noticed that my Windows Update and Windows Firewall services were missing. I do have the Windows Update Medic service though.


If anyone could try to help me with this, that would be great!

Initially, the troubleshooting we advise our users is to try and run the automatic update troubleshooter. Since you’ve already tried the troubleshooter, we suggest checking this
thread. The said thread contain steps provided by Microsoft MVP
Andre Da Costa which could be used to address the issue on the error message that you’re receiving.

Windows 10 update error 0x80070424

After starting all listed services, the windows update still gives me the same error (0x80070424). Downloading and executing the update gives me this error:
