    Hello everyone!
I am currently running a windows 7 laptop and wish to upgrade to windows 10. After an attempt to install windows 10 today, i got the following prompt after the "working on updates" tab:

    0x8007042B-0x2000D

The installation failed in the safe_os phase with an error during migrate_data operation.

As i said, this happened after the working on updates tab. It loaded to around 29% and suddenly restarted. I attempted to install win 10 twice today with a double fail. What is the problem? Thanks for your understanding!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Update problem (0x8007042B - 0x2000D) [StateRepository-Deployment.srd]

    Dear All,

I have problems updating Windows 10 on my Packard Bell EasyNote TSX66HR with Windows 10 Home, version 1607, OS build 14393.2156.

I am trying to update to OS Build 16299.

I recieve the error code 0x8007042B - 0x2000D and the comment "the installation failed in the SAFE-OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation".

The setuperr.log reports the following error:

    2018-04-05 01:10:18, Error SP Error READ, 0x00000017 while gathering/applying object: File, C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository [StateRepository-Deployment.srd]. Will return 0[gle=0x00000017]

    2018-04-05 01:13:37, Error SP Operation execution failed: 13. hr = 0x8007042B

2018-04-05 01:13:37, Error SP CSetupPlatformPrivate::Execute: Execution of operations queue failed, abandoning. Error: 0x8007042B

It seems the problem is with StateRepository-Deployment.srd in the AppRepository folder?

Can anyone give me advice to solve this problem?

Can I change ownership of the AppRepository folder and delete the contents? Would that cause major problems?

    Many thanks!

if you don't know how to fix this issue with upgrading win to newest version

first check your free space on system drive

in my case i have 100GB free but user profile folder and win itself due to age of this installation ( from win 7) have 90GB

and super iso or what ever during upgrade process copy all this stuff to temp folder (probably Satya Nadella knows for what)

You could check an error regarding this in log file in one of this backup folder which stays after failure...

so all this crap info with media creation tool iso and clean restart is just proof that you don't know nothing about this process

For Microsoft developers, on the beginning of installation is worth to check free disc space on system drive and put some info about it

and then couple of angry users just disappears....

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
