Windows 10: 0xc0000005 Morrowind?

I keep getting Crash to desktops on Morrowind. I can play for like 20 - 30 seconds sometimes maybe 1 - 5 mintues then i will get a ctd.


I checked the RAM with diagnostics and its fine.


I checked DEP and disabled Morrowind.


I turned off Anti Virus (Windows defender) and Malwarebytes.


I ran every compatibility setting and ran as administrator.


The only thing i can tell you is that i'm running it on the on board graphics chip. (integrated gpu) so i had to use an old Driver from Windows 7 (2009) before that i had a Windows 10 WDDM driver. Reason i changed it is because one other game woudn't run on the Windows 10 Driver which was Knights of the Old Republic. On the Windows 7 Driver KOTOR launches perfectly. So i'm kinda of thinking that the reason Morrowind crashes is because of the Windows 7 Driver. But i'm not too sure. I mean KOTOR runs perfectly. What should i do? If i switch back to the Windows 10 Driver i won't be able to play KOTOR. Because Microsoft dropped Open GL support for this on board chips. That's why KOTOR won't run.

Morrowind on Windows 10

Hello everybody,

I have installed Morrowind (disc) without any DLC:s on my Acer computer with Windows 10.

I have tried to change ''restore previous versions'' on Morrowind all from Windows ME to windows 7 and nothing of it works. I have tried out many solutions like Windows XP etc but Morrowind wont just even open. There is no idea to try to make the resolution
smaller it wont work, it is acutally a vad idea. Your computer will tell you need to run it in 1280/1900 resolution or something like that.

I have heard you can use MGE XE to make Morrowind work on Nexusmods.com but my Nexusmods wont work on my computer because it tells you: ''Unable to get write permissions for: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softwords\Morrowind'' even tho you have it on
a hard-drive.

Do you know any solution how to make it work without Steam and make Nexusmods work together with Morrowind or the most important to just make the game work?

I would be pleased to know if you have any solution.

morrowind comes back with punch!

ok, i always been a fan of morrowind, but it was laking in graphics because of its age, but NOT ANYMORE *Big Grin

Hi Samuel,

If running your antivirus software to scan for malicious programs does not help, I suggest disabling Data Execution Prevention. It's a built-in feature on Windows for protecting your computer. Some programs may not be compatible with this feature and opening
the app or game will cause 0xc0000005 error.

To disable it, log in using an admin account and follow these steps:

1. Press Windows key + R, type sysdm.cpl and press
   Enter.
2. Click the Advanced tab > Settings button.
3. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
4. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
   
5. Click Add and open the problematic executable file/game.
6. Click OK.
