Windows 10: 0XC1900101 – 0x20017 error. Can't install updates on my computer

Thank you for reading my question. Since a few months, I can't manage to install updates on my computer, after a long loading when the pc is turned on after rebooting it the update is finally not installed and the computer wants to restart the whole process.

I then tried to install this one via a new windows ISO image that I put on a usb key. Same thing, I have the same problem, everything goes well and after the first reboot of the computer, the update is not installed.
I updated my bios, unplugged all peripherals except my keyboard and mouse.

Unable to Upgrade to Windows !0 pro . 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 installtion failed in SAFE_OS phase with an error during boot operations

Hi Antony,

As i am getting error code 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 but you suggested to refer 0xc1900101-0x40017. Just asking which one is right solution for my
issue ?

I have already tried the steps mentioned for error code 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 but No luck.

I also tried to upgrade through Windows Update but same error.

This thread starts with the same error and indicates how this issue was resolved in some cases. It's not going to be easy, I feel, with no one solution.
Note the same error has occurred with previous build upgrades.

Anniversary update fails with error 0xC1900101 - 0x20017

I followed the directions C: > Windows > Panther and found the two text files, setuperr dated 9-15-2016 on a failed attempt





Setuperr below, appears ATI drivers are listed at the top. Maybe this is what the troubleshooting page refers to, I'm not uninstalling them. W10 should replace them with MS working drivers if the W10 AU can't handle them. It could be the problem, but it wasn't a problem the first RTM or the November update.

Since the AU is now considered the "paid" version for those that didn't take advantage of the free upgrade W10 may be picky about an install. I'm not doing a clean install, if W10 is now the new "running as a service OS" it should be able to update itself without issue. Meaning any computer running any version of W10 without problems should upgrade without problems.
