Windows 10: 100% Disk Usage often

Hello everyone, for a long time now I've been having a problem where if I do even small things like open Google Chrome, settings app, Steam, Discord. Internet Explorer (especially bad) or most applications on my computer the Disk Usage spikes to 100% and the computer slows dramatically. It also does this if I download anything regardless of what I download it from (Steam, Origin, Uplay, Chrome, Internet Explorer Microsoft edge doesn't matter)


Maybe this is normal on windows 10? But I recall this not being the case on some other computers I had. Also, when I first stop a download or when I get out of a game that's more intensive my disk usage will be at 100% and the programs that are using 100% will be seemingly random. For example Microsoft telemetry will be using 100%, I close that then store using 100% I close that then people are using 100% until eventually the disk usage slowly works it's way down


What I've already tried:

Running the chkdsk command in the cmd prompt

Defragmenting my disk (it's currently 0% fragmented)
Disabling superfetch and windows search

Turning off skype

Updating drivers and updating Windows

Disabling Antivirus (Windows Defender)

Resetting computer

Changing energy options to high performance


Computer specs:
GPU GTX 970

CPU I7-4790k
8GB DDR3 RAM

2TB HDD

Windows 10 OS

100% disk usage

The most common cause of 100% disk usage appears to be Superfetch and Prefetch, but there are also other causes. You can try disabling both these features and see if it helps.

100% disk usage and memory usage

• Did you receive any error messages?
• Can you send us the screenshot of the Task Manager showing the 100% disk usage and memory usage?
