100% disk usage. Tried probably everything...

Its getting worse and worse by the day. The disk usage goes 100% whenever i add a tab, minimize a game. This never used to happen before i tried several tips to reduce the usage which made even worse. I have tried probably everything except buying another hardrive which i wont cause mine is pretty much new. Can you suggest maybe a tip that would actually fix this problem? I tried turning off suggested services, search, power options, ending tasks...

    :)

  2. Windows 10 100% Disk Usage, Tried Everything

We appreciate your response. Performing a clean installation of Windows should address all software related issues. Since the problem persists after you clean install your Windows 10, there is a high possibility that a hardware component is causing this
issue. In this case, we advise that you contact the manufacturer of your device and inform them about your concern. This is for them to check the status of your device's hardware.

If you have other questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us.

  3. Windows 10 100% Disk Usage, Tried Everything

Edit; if this will help at all, my device model is an Asus GL502VT.

I am running Windows 10 Home Version 1709, fully updated.

I made no out of the ordinary changes before this issue occurred. My activities on my device include gaming and web-browsing, but neither would have any bearing on how my disk is being used.

I experience this issue as soon as I boot my PC, and as soon as I start any sort of program. When I look at task manager, the program in question isn't even what is using the disk; System is using the disk.

I started Windows 10 in a clean boot and the problem was not solved. System continues to use my disk for no apparent reason, even when idle. No problems are occurring among my installed programs. But even then, I clean installed Windows 10 on an entirely
new hard drive and I am still dealing with this issue.

100% disk usage. Tried probably everything...

    Hi,
    1. Check your disk: download install and run Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) and post a screenshot of its GUI.
    2. If ok, try a clean boot
Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
    part 1
    and check performance, and

    from an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:

Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.

    3. If not ok, boot to Safe Mode and check performance. Post result.

History: I got windows 10 day 1 when it came out. And had them for almost 2 years. I did a clean install at the start of may because i though it was needed (I used to do this with windows 7 every 3 months). After that the pc was fine until two weeks ago when i started doing some simple modding and spriting. After i was done with it, then the problem started. I do have Advanced system care ultimate and I use Smart defrag, Driver booster a lot. Every few weeks i defrag my hard drive and run trough other scans to ensure security of my pc. I never had this problem before i decited to do a clean install. And right now i dont really want to do another clean installation cause downloading back stuff is just tiring. I do have external HHD where I keep my work, movies, pictures.

Do you have any disk images or restore points before the date you started that?
(We strongly and repeatedly recommend the use of disk imaging e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) so that you can easily recover from this sort of scenario quickly and without technical help).

Neither of these should be necessary: we strongly recommend against the routine use of driver updater programs.

    Please
    a. Try Safe Mode and advise whether the problem occurs then.
    b. If not, please provide a screenshot of task manager (details) and Resource Monitor (disk activity) when high activity is present.

    Again:

    (What's spriting?)

Do you have any disk images or system restore points before the date you started that?

I.e. can you restore your PC to before this started- before your tweaking?

    Consider:
    1) running a manual full malware scan with your current antivirus scanner as well as malwarebytes
    2) in place up grade repair using a bootable windows 10 iso:
    Download Windows 10
An in place upgrade repair will allow you to keep your files and applications.
You must be able to boot and open file explorer
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials
    3) if you prefer to troubleshoot is may take substantially more time:
you could run windows performance recorder:
