  1. 100% Disk Usage

My disk usage will sometimes sit at a normal level (right now as I am typing it is at a nice 2%), but frequently it spikes up to 100%, seemingly at random. Sometimes it will slow down when I open a new program, sometimes it will slow down when I am doing literally nothing. I keep the task manager open frequently to see when it slows down, but there really isn't much of a pattern...

I've read many of the forums posted on this site and other sites about this issue, but nothing seems to work. I just reset my PC, and I haven't downloaded any programs to it yet. Some of the things I have tried before include-

    Checking for viruses- none exist

    Disabled Windows Search

    Disabled SuperFetch

    Reset Virtual Memory

    Updated drivers

Performed chkdsk.exe command- no issues found

I don't have Google Chrome or Skype

I am not running the StorAHCI.sys driver

Removed seeing tips from Microsoft/ diagnostic tracking

Windows is updated to the latest version

    Reset PC

I'm sure I am forgetting a couple of things...

Here is info about my system-

    ASUS Q524UQK

    Intel Core i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70 GHz

    NVIDIA GeForce 940MX

    Seagate ST2000LM007-1R8174 2TB HDD

Here are a couple pictures of the task manager and resource monitor when the is problem at its worst.

  2. 100% disk usage

The most common cause of 100% disk usage appears to be Superfetch and Prefetch, but there are also other causes. You can try disabling both these features and see if it helps.

This article provides steps to disable prefecth and superfetch:

  3. Jose Est Win User
100% disk usage and memory usage

    Hi,

100% disk usage and memory usage can be caused by a software corruption, running application running on the background and malware or virus infection.

For us to properly isolate the issue and provide an appropriate resolution, kindly answer the questions below:

    • Did the issue happen after installing the Fall Creators?
    • Did you receive any error messages?
    • Can you send us the screenshot of the Task Manager showing the 100% disk usage and memory usage?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

For isolation purposes, please perform a clean boot to see if the same issue will occur. Refer to this
article for more information on how to perform a clean boot
    in Windows.

    Looking forward to your response.
