Windows 10: 10240 NO shuffle

Even with build 10240, seems like slideshow shuffle might be permanently gone.
They now use albums with sequential displays.
So, like I do, one has about 10,000 wallpapers, sequential displaying is a problem.

It will be necessary to use 3rd party wallpaper shufflers if available. *Sad

shuffling the wallpaper slideshow and while on battery

i recently upgraded my laptop from windows 8.1 to windows 10 (build 10240)

i noticed that the feature to shuffle the desktop wallpaper had gone, and i cant shuffle the slideshow and the slideshow doesn't work on battery...

is this feature still available on windows 10?

 

Wallpaper timeout is not seen in windows 10.it is only in the older versions

We already did. Sounds like you're using Windows 10 RTM (10240). Upgrade to Windows 10's Fall update (10586) and that Shuffle button is back. The timing options were already present in 10240 in the location that Deepak indicates.

 

Do they really have those kind of programs?

 

Probably. You have to be a dedicated eye candy guy to need them, though.

 

There is a simple fix for that. I had same issue, and discovered this. The Interval is in milliseconds, so mine is 30 seconds. Shuffle set to 1 does just that, shuffle.

Yesterday, I was on 10240. NOT running 24 / 7, and booting many times a day.
So, this morning, I attached 10240 to the board and NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.
The system froze and became unusable. Ctrl Alt Del did not work. Right clicks did not work.
NO start menu. Really ? This is RTM ?

Rebooted and got the beachballs for 5 minutes.
Finally gave up and am posting this from build 9200 / server 2012.

@Tomcat ok. When I get back in, I'll try your recommendation.
That doesn't change the fact that "shuffle" is not an option in the settings app.

The registry edit DOES make shuffle happen.

That's probably because only 1 in 100,000 users worry about it. It must be on the last page of MS's to-do list.

 

You could be right OR since 10 is a part of the phone and tablet ecosystem,
have you seen any phones that shuffle wallpapers?

I am a little concerned since I spent hours downloading 10000 wallpapers.

Right now, I am also concerned that in tablet mode,
NO running desktop animations like deskscapes or videowall (in tablet mode)
can be seen thru the start screen.

ONLY wallpapers.

In fact unfortunately, deskscapes and videowall do NOT work in tablet mode !

 

I don't mind being 1 in 100,000 since I am still a fan of Windows 8.0 !!!!! and server 2012 build 9200

Might pull the SSD of 10 Pro tablet mode and use build 9200 for a while. *Smile *Party *cake

Especially since OBLYTILE does not work in 10 either !

AND Windows 10 does not have IMMERSIVE internet explorer 10 !

 

f14tomcat: Thanks for this tip. So far it is working fine. I have been using the Wallpaper shuffle setting since Windows 3.2 in 1982. Now with 28" 4 k monitor and a plethora of UHD pictures I need this feature more than anytime before. I will let you know if it holds.

 

Just download johns background switcher, it is better than the built in windows wallpaper changer
