  1. 152 missing apps after MS Windows 10 update KB890830 KB2267602

    I am an A+ & Net+ PC repairman.

My Friend "AJ" has a major issue. On 12/13/2048 these 2 updates ran on his PC.

That very evening he sat at his PC and read an html doc titled "Apps removed while resetting your PC"; listing 152 apps that had been removed/uninstalled.

Over the phone he called me and I could not talk him through the problem.

He handed the PC to me, and I'm currently trying to repair, here are some symptoms:

    152 apps & programs removed / uninstalled...152 non-valid shortcuts.

    Windows home button\Settings is empty.

System restore lost ALL reset points prior to 12/13/2018

Main concern: He uses MS money, and his financial information is missing with this program.

Secondary concerns: The serial numbers & activation codes are missing. It could take days to reinstall & register all these.

I know that there is a possibility that this info is still "on the drive"

    Please advise,

    best regards, Dennis Jann

    :)

  3. KB3097617 Update Bug + KB2267602 (1.207.2189.0)

I'm not able to complete the installation of the KB3097617 file (since 5 days). Try manual installation like suggested here:

How to Fix Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB3097617 Installation Issues - Softpedia

Did not work. The problem occurs on restart.

Got the same issue with KB2267602 but it was solved by Windows after several attempts. Will try like suggested in the link above to disable Defender...

Edit: KB2267602 (1.207.2189.0) Was never able to installed that file. Ubuntu or Grub is not the source of the bug.

    Windows 10 update being enabled.

srlsly? Looks like MS nerfed it then. Hope you get it sorted.

I have to confess that I've not paid much attention to it and didn't bother updating it, although I probably should have.
