Windows 10: 16 GB DDR3L single-slot for laptops?

Hello!
I've been searching for this during the past few months, and I've found this:

Is it possible?
My CPU (Core i7-2860QM) supports a maximum of 32 GB of RAM, but my motherboard supports up to 16 GB. I don't know if it's because of, until very recently, the maximum capacity of a single DDR3 slot was 8 GB, and my mobo has capacity for two slots; or because of a BIOS-limit thing.

32 GB Sodimms DDR3L are out , are they compatible ?

So basically it was believed up till few months ago that DDR3L laptops were bind to use 16 GBs of rams where DDR4 came to boost that to 32 GBs for those who are resource hungry for them , but then all of a sudden Crucial managed to release 32 GBs DDR3L 1600 MHz Sodimm rams to defy that myth .

Problem is all manufacturers had already stated in their specs sheets that max ram compatible with their DDR3L laptops are 16 GBs back when there weren't any 32 Gigs in circulation .

Now despite that Crucial is known to have a comprehensive compatibility checker in their site it does not recommend 32 GBs DDR3L 1600 MHz Sodimms rams to any brand / model .

So question is , are these just compatible with any DDR3L 1600 MHz Sodimms supporting chipset or are these just designed for specific chipsets and / or CPUs ?

I am asking as this is starting to remind me of back when most mobile manufacturers stated that max supported SD cards capacity for their phones were 32 GBs yet all managed to operate 64 , 128 , 256 capacities gracefully when they were out , but it just left people skeptical for a while weather these should work on their phones or not , but then when it comes to PC world it's an entirely different thing so .. any idea ?

1. (2) Supports two (2) modules inserted into either the red slots or the black slots as onepair of Dual-channel memory con guration. We suggest that you install the modulesinto slots A2 and B2 for better compatibility.
   

 

Memory upgrade

Some Laptops with 2 slots are setup to use only a max of 4GB in each slot or only the first slot works, irrespective of what it reads. So You may be using 8GB from the first or 4+4 GB check with your manufacturer. Mine also lists 16GB.
