    170 GB Of Videos?

My Acronis C Drive full backup, when finished, shows 170 GB of videos. I've searched my entire C Drive and I can't find these "purported" videos. I've searched, from within the Windows search box, for "videos", ".avi", ".mov", ".flv", ."wmv", "MP3", "MP4", etc, etc, etc and nothing comes up. I've searched the Acronis TIH 2018 interface for any path to these videos but the Acronis program apparently doesn't offer a way to map these videos. I've searched the Acronis folder in my Program Files and have come up empty handed. I have no idea what the content of these videos may be and I have no idea how 170 GB of videos came to be on my computer. I've searched the Document folder, Pictures folder, Video folder, Music folder and every single folder under all Users and the Public folder. I don't know what else to do.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64 on a Dell XPS-17 L702X laptop. Does anyone know how I can find these videos? Is there any kind of software that will scan an OS drive and locate these videos? I don't need 170 gigabytes of videos in any of my backups, especially when I don't know what these videos are or where they came from. Could they possibly be in my Windows.old folder? Thank you in advance for your time and any assistance provided.

    :)

  2. Backup taking long time to complete

    We need much more info.

170 Gb is a huge amount of data to back up but it should not take 2 days.

There should be no reason that the windows partition should be 170 Gb. Use an app called treesize (from Jam software) to find out what is using the space.

Where are you backing up to? Is it an internal driver, or external? Is it USB or sata?

  4. 170 GB Of Videos?

    Hi Sichuan

If you go to Settings > System > Storage and click on a drive it will show you by category what is on that drive. Not sure it it will calculate item as Acronis does. If you click on Movies it will show you detail.

Again this might not work as the two products, Windows and Acronis may be grouping things differently.

That said it might show you something.

Thank you, Caledon Ken, for your prompt reply. I appreciate it very much. Sadly, this did not reveal the "missing" videos. Could they possibly be in the Windows.old folder? Would a backup find videos in the Windows.old folder even though I can't find them when looking in the Windows.old folder?

    Hey Sichuan,
I've found that Windows/Cortana Search Box doesn't always find stuff. Try using File Explorer or Everything from VoidTools - voidtools

Note: I use the portable version, no install required.

BTW ... All tho I don't think it would be 170 GB of videos. If it's a laptop, the touch pad can have a lot of videos associated with it's help files.

If you grab a copy of this:

    Disk Sorter Download

You can run it and use the default plugin to figure out what's where.

Click Movies in the results pane.

Then click on any "Category" to get a list of files and locations.

    170 GB Of Videos?

Thank you, Eagle51. I appreciate your prompt reply. "Everything" is exactly what I needed to find the videos. They are digital downloads, movies I have stored on Vudu. I had forgotten all about them. They're located in my user account at AppData\Roaming\com.vudu.air.Downloader in the Local Store folder, all 170GB of them. I would watch them on my laptop whenever I was out of the country but I think I'll just delete them. I can always go to Ultra Violet online and watch them if I wish.

I have two 500 GB drives in this laptop and I had to use Seatools DOS for Windows to repair some bad sectors on my C Drive. I just ordered a 1 TB drive for this laptop. I'll use it for my D drive and I'll take that 500 GB drive and use it for my C Drive. I'll have to do some research and determine if and how I can keep all these videos on the new 1 TB drive.

Thanks again. You're a lifesaver. Thank you again also, Caledon Ken. I appreciate the good advice.

Thank you, Callender, for your informative reply. I appreciate it very much. It's an excellent application and it found the files, just as "Everything" did, although I must admit that DiskSorter contains many more uses and options. Of course, DiskSorter is way above my capabilities to use for anything but finding files.
