Windows 10: 1909 Update Fails Every Time

My laptop wants me to install the 1909 update, but it fails every time I try. It gets all the way through the configuring process, but does a hard crash before it even gets to 3% during install. For a while, my Windows was letting me shutdown my laptop without trying the update again, which was nice, but now it won't. It's at the point where it will try the update again, whether I want it to or not, whenever I want to shut my laptop off. Are there any tricks for getting the 1909 update to work? Am I missing something else? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
