Windows 10: 2.1GB Hardware Reserved RAM

    2.1GB Hardware Reserved RAM


    I've had 2100MB hardware reserved memory ever since I got my PC. I've tried

    • Run maintenance task
    • Setting maximum memoryMSConfig > Boot to 0 and turning it off
    • Booting in Safe ModeIt was still reserved

    I've also tried checking the BIOS, but I couldn't find anything relating to my integrated GPU or memory. I have a B450M DS3H-CF Revision 1.0.

    8.1GB Reserved for hardware

    I've had this pc for about 7 months and never really checked my usable ram, but recently i wanted to play some games with a 16GB RAM requirement, so i checked and saw that half of my installed RAM is reserved. Now i know it's normal for some ram to be reserved, but 8.1GB seems a bit excessive, so i was wondering what might be wrong?
    I'm running Windows 10 Pro, and here are some pics of taskmng and RAM info.

    Disk Usage Always at 100% and 2GB Hardware Reserved RAM

    Like I said before, I have tried many combinations and I found that the memory slots are messing up.
    If I use the match Slot1: 1GB ; slot 2: 2GB; slot 3: 1GB; slot 4: 2GB, I only get 3GB of usable RAM

    If I use the match Slot1: 2GB ; slot 2: 2GB; slot 3: 1GB; slot 4: 1GB, I get 4GB of usable RAM

    If I use the match Slot1: 1GB ; slot 2: 1GB; slot 3: 2GB; slot 4: 2GB, I get 2GB of usable RAM

    Its kinda confusing, I know. The 2 slots on the left are getting the "usable memory". The 2 on the right are "reserving" it for hardware. It is really like that. And it never happened before.


    With the match that you asked for I get this

    Problem about RAM & Hardware reserved. Need advice.

    Hi, some similar reports have been posted- if you search for these, ignore those related to using 32bit Windows on >4Gb RAM- that's not your situation of course.

    Noted there are differences in the last two CPU-Z reports on your RAM, which may suggest something about that in slot 2.
