  1. 2.5" 512GB SATA III V-NAND 2-bit MLC Internal Solid for Thinkpad P51

Unless I am overlooking something these specs seem to be about the best that you can do after looking at a few different manufacturers if I want to replace the 7200 rpm HDD platter that came with the machine:

    SATA III SSD

Max Sequential Read Up to 560 MBps Max Sequential Write Up to 530 MBps

Is this about right? The 256GB SSD PCIe MLC OPAL2 that also came with the machine screams but it does not seem that anything comes close to this when it comes to replacing the platter with a SATA III SSD. TIA.

    :)

  3. UserBenchmark Results Question Thinkpad P51?

    Home - UserBenchmark

    x-posted to thinkpad reddit

So another user ran UserBenchmark a tool I was unfamiliar with (thanks u/Wellas) and my results came back slightly better then his though gaming was abysmal which I kind of expected but no matter to me since I do not even play solitaire : )
What was a bit more disturbing were the results of the Samsung SM961 NVMe PCIe M.2 256GB (pic 2) and in particular the results from pic 3 regarding the RAM Samsung M471A1K43BB1-CRC 2x8GB.
Before I go GOOGLING myself into a fray any insight would be appreciated particularly the memory results indicating, "ensure that a dual+ channel XMP BIOS profile is enabled." What's that about.
    Thanks.

Samsung Announces SSD 850 EVO Series Featuring 3-bit V-NAND

I suspect TLC V-NAND will have no worse durability than the 2-bit MLC of yesteryear.

The Intel VNAND will make for some interesting competition.
