2 Gfx cards/2 monitors: How can I assign a single card for each?

I have 2 graphics cards ASUS GTX 1080 & MSI RTX 2080 Super, and 2 monitors a 4k Vizio tv and 4k ultra-wide. I have Display Port running the 2080 to the ultra-wide monitor, and hdmi running from the MOBO port to the TV. I want the TV to be controlled by the 1080, but I cannot plug it into the card directly, because it causes a boot/display issue; my BIOS/startup shows up on my TV because MOBOs default to HDMI over DP, but I want the BIOS/startup to show on my ultra-wide monitor. The only solution I was able to find was to plug in the TV to the MOBO HDMI port. However, with this setup, it seems both my ultra-wide and my TV are using the 2080.

Is there a way to manually assign each monitor to a different graphics card with this configuration?

    :)

2 video cards, NOT SLI, trying to solve downclock issue

My son has a new PC with an EVGA 2080 Super FTW3+ Ultra video card. He runs 3 monitors. 2 of them are 60Hz, and 1 of them is 144Hhz. When all 3 monitors are plugged in, at idle, the Nvidia 2080Super is running at 1,650Mhz and not downclocking. If I disconnect either of his 60Hz monitors, leaving him with a 144Hz and a single 60hz, the video card WILL downclock to 300Mhz at idle. If I take his 144Hz monitor and set it to 60hz and he runs all 3 monitors, the video card WILL downlock to 300Mhz at idle.

I don't like the 2080Super always running at full clocks for following reasons
    1. Power usage. When the 2080super is at 300Mhz, idle power usage is 20w. When the 2080 super is at 1,650, at idle power usage is 48w.
    2. Heat. When the 2080 super is at 300Mhz, idle temps are about 35C. When the 2080 super is at 1,650, at idle, temps are about 50C.

Solving the problem has a few options
    1. Have him run on 2 monitors only, 1 at 144Hz and 1 at 60Hz. But who wants to go back to 2 monitors when you have had 3 for years?
    2. See if adding an additional 144Hz monitor and removing a 60Hz monitor works right. I'm thinking that with 2 at 144Hz and 1 at 60hz, it's going to be the same issue I am seeing with 2 at 60Hz and 1 at 144Hz.
    3. I am considering buying something like the MSI GeForceGT710 PCIe video card for $50, and installing this into his PC as well. We can move 1 of the 60Hz monitors over to the secondary video card, leaving a single 60hz and single 144hz on the 2080 super. This should in theory allow the 2080 super to downclock at idle again just like it does now when I unplug one of the 60Hz monitors.

Any major concerns with adding a single cheapo video card by Nvidia, simply to run 1 of the monitors?

  3. 2 Monitors 2 Graphics Cards?

I have been using 2 monitors for a while now and I love it. I use an old dell monitor and an Lg 34gk950f. I was playing Division 2 a while back and noticed when I ran a benchmark, my GPU was at 99% usage. My processor was fine, hovering around 23% or less.
I have a Ryzen 7 1700x. My framerate was never able to get too high and after playing Borderlands 3, I am starting got get annoyed that it hovers around 30 fps. With all the ray tracing demos, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get a new MSI RTX
2070 super card to go along with my MSI RTX 1070 gaming Z card so I can dedicate the RTX for the LG. Would this just lead to another bottleneck or would the dedicated cards help my system keep a high framerate with the ultrawide? whatsapp

2 Gfx cards/2 monitors: How can I assign a single card for each?

New graphics card - lost 2 additional monitors

Had to replace old power supply and graphics card...both went smooth or so I thought...

Have 3 monitor set up which has worked fine for years...after installing new graphics card...zI can run monitor one by itself without issue...but when I connect monitor 2 or 3 I 'loose' all montors... nothing works...if I disconnect monitor 2 from the card..then monitor 1 works fine...reconnect 1 or 2 other monitors...then all blank screens !

Any thoughts on what's up with monitors 2 and 3 and the new card ?
