2 things ... Desktop icon spacing and sign in problem?

I have just completed a clean install on my laptop of Windows 10 version 1909, in order to remove the insider setup I was using. Everything went perfectly with no real problems.
My questions are: 1: On previous Windows 10 installs I could change the spacing of desktop icons to place them closer together in grid formation, but I have forgotten how I did this? 2: I could start Windows without the need to sign in ever, but I can't seem to do this now?

This laptop is going to be my wife's new toy, and she hates rules, so I have to make things simple for her, or I end up fighting the dog for my dinner! Any help would stop me from starving.
    Thanks in advance.

    :)

  2. desktop icon spacing problem

    Hi Waterfalllllll,

I'm Charles, an Independent advisor trying to help.

Let's apply these steps to verify if they solve your problem, please check each one before applying them to avoid mistakes, they are the following:

    1.- Press Windows key + R >> Run >> Write: regedit + Enter >> Now locate the following path >> HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ WindowMetrics

2.- When selecting the WindowMetrics option, a list will be displayed, where we will >> Double click >> IconSpacing to modify the value and horizontal space.

3.- When selecting the WindowMetrics option, a list will be displayed, where we will >> Double click >> IconVerticalSpacing to modify the vertical space

In both cases to be configured, the value must be configured between the values >> -480 and -2730 as a minimum and maximum space.

4.- Restart the computer to save the changes.

I hope the steps work for you

    Attentive to any comments

    Have a happy day

    Best Regards,

    Charles.

  3. Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
